Iron

Iron is naturally present in water supplies and its presence in both potable and industrial applications is regarded as objectionable.

Kittiwake's extensive range of water test kits for iron begin with colour card and checkit tests for basic analysis; comparator tests give a greater accuracy and the Smart 2 Photometer measures from 10 ppb to 10 ppm Iron.

Iron impairs potable water taste and will also stain pipework, fittings and swimming pool surfaces. Iron will stain or mark laundered materials and deposits often cause problems with agricultural water feed lines if not removed periodically.

Soluble iron in industrial water systems is indicative of corrosion. Spikes in measured concentrations require prompt investigation to determine the cause.
