Oil Condition Monitoring - Transport

Maintaining and protecting the cars, trains, buses, ships and aeroplanes that keep us travelling demands expert engineering, effective systems and diligent workmanship. The transport infrastructure keeps economies moving, but when things go wrong, chaos can ensue.

Technology advances to make this task easier, and maintenance management system continue to improve as new methodologies and equipment become available for condition monitoring and control.

Kittiwake equipment is used for example in monitoring:

Engine lubricants in bus fleets, extending oil change intervals

TAN levels in aircraft brake fluid and hydraulics

Fuel dilution due to cooler leakages in aircraft turbine sytems

Insolubles and viscosity in DMU Locomotive engines

Kittiwake has invested significantly in maintenance research and development, with new on-line and off-line machinery and oil condition monitoring equipment now available to help transport engineers achieve even greater reliability and performance from their vehicles and equipment.

ANALEXrs On-line Machinery Oil Condition Sensors

Kittiwake's unique ANALEX range of machinery and oil condition monitors provide both an off-line monitoring and on-line, remote condition monitoring capability, enabling engineers to preserve equipment availability while simultaneously minimising costs.

ANALEXpq Off-line Oil Condition Monitoring

The ANALEX range of Ferrous Debris Monitors are suitable for use both in the field and in laboratory conditions. A sample of oil containing ferromagnetic particles is placed upon the sensor, thus altering the balance between the coils. The resulting 'out-of-balance' signal is amplified, filtered and displayed as a PQ Index, which relates directly to the mass of the ferromagnetic debris in the sample.
