Kittiwake's Cloud Point Detector is supplied to the military in a robust metal case, but can also be provided in the standard Kittiwake portable carry case.

Different oil base stocks produce biodiesels of differing cloudpoints. Storing or using biodiesel below its cloudpoint will lead to partial or complete solidifi cation of the fuel.
FG-K16954-KW: Cloud Point Detector for Biodiesel (Extended Range)
For testing extended range cloud point from +25 °C to -20 °C. Supplied in portable carry case.
Cloud Point Measurement of Biodiesel
Kittiwake's Cloud Point Detectors are automatic devices, used for detecting the temperature at which wax crystals form in a translucent oil sample. This causess the oil to become cloudy in appearance, hence the term "cloud point".
The measurement of cloud point is of importance to the biodiesel industry, particularly in climates with low ambient temperatures. If the temperature drops below the cloud point, wax crystals forming in the fuel may block filters and cause fuel delivery problems.
This device operates by cooling an oil sample and monitoring the intensity of light transmitted through it. The unit allows cloud point tests to be carried out before accepting the fuel and a normal test takes less than 10 minutes.
