Aluminium


Aluminium Sulphate is used extensively as a coagulant in the clarification of drinking water. It is also found, in increasing quantities in natural waters from industrial contamination and acid rain.

Water treatment works need to monitor Aluminium Sulphate (Alum) levels to maintain correct coagulation and filtration systems.

Environmental monitoring of residual aluminium levels in natural waters is particularly important in aquaculture, as aluminium is toxic to fish, shellfish and other aquatic organisms.
