Isothiazolinone (a mixture of Methylisothiazolinone & Methylchloroisothiazolinone) is used extensively as a non-oxidising industrial biocide.
Used on its own or in combination/rotation with other products to control bacteria levels in a wide range of materials, from cutting fluids to cooling and process waters . Minimum concentration limits are essential for effective control and yet excessive use or overdosing is both costly and can lead to problems with discharge consents.
The Kittiwake Isothiazolinone water test kit enables quantitative on-site analysis of Isothiazolinone levels in water systems within minutes, allowing effective decision making with regard to dosage and microbiological control. The reagents supplied will produce a blue coloured compound in the presence of Isothiazolinone, the intensity of which is proportional to concentration. Match the colour produced to the colour card supplied to determine the active concentration of Isothiazolinone present.
