Water Test Kits for the Marine & Shipping Industry

Kittiwake’s range of fuel and lube oil test kits for the marine industry are complimented by a range of water testing products.

These are designed to monitor onboard water systems and water treatment chemicals added to diesel engine cooling systems and low, medium or high pressure boilers. Products have been specially selected and combined into a range of specific, fully portable test kits for easy, convienient testing on-site. Upgrades are available depending upon treatments used.

Marine Hygiene Test Kit
Kittiwake has developed the Marine Hygiene Test Kit to aid with the monitoring of ships water systems. Simple, regular testing of these systems for micro-organisms like legionella, coliforms, e.coli and pseudomonas will reduce risks, help keep employees healthy and ultimately save lives. Standard Test Kits for Cooling and Boiler Water

Kittiwake supply two standard test kits for routine testing of closed cooling system inhibitors in marine diesel engines.

FG-K25085-KW: Closed System Inhibitor Test Kit
Small black plastic case containing basic test equipment, plus test strips and nitrite test .

FG-K29200-KW: Cooling Water (Combined) Test Kit
Medium black plastic case containing pH test strips , nitrite comparator test and chloride comparator test.


Maintain boiler systems correctly with these two standard test kits. Ideal for on-board measurement of corrosion and scale inhibitors.

FG-K29201-KW: Boiler Water (Combined) Test Kit
Medium black plastic case containing tests for P-Alkalinity, Chloride Comprator Test and pH test strips . Additional space for sulphite or tannin upgrades (see table below).

FG-K29202-KW Boiler Water (Combined Plus) Test Kit
Medium black plastic case containing tests for P-Alkalinity, Chloride and Phosphate, as well as pH test strips .

ECON pH/Conductivity/TDS/°C Testing

Boiler systems pH levels are generally high (> pH 10) and are easily checked using pH test strips or meters .

Conductivity or Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) measurement of boiler water systems should be an essential part of everyday analysis that provides information on concentration factor and dissolved boiler solids. Excess solids can lead to boiler water carry over and system contamination. The Kittiwake Conductivity and TDS meter range is extensive and caters for all accuracy requirements and budgetary constraints.

Glycol Refractometer

For the determination of monoethylene and monopropylene based antifreeze in closed cooling systems. This handy optical instrument provides a no-mess, instant result that is impossible to achieve using traditional hydrometer based methods. The easy-to-read refractometer scale provides direct readings of freeze points and concentration of Ethylene Glycol and Propylene Glycol.
