Density Meters for Diesel & Residual Fuel
FG-K1-300-KW
The Kittiwake Density Meter is suitable for diesel & residual fuel oils. Use it to confirm the quantity of fuel delivered, verify that the correct grade of fuel has been delivered, estimate the combustion performance (CCAI), correct viscosity in cP to cSt.
The Density Meter measures density using a hydrometer dropped in warmed oil. Most oils can be measured at 50ºC but for very viscous fuels and diesels the units can be set to warm to 70ºC. There is a calculator feature, which allows the reading to be adjusted to show Density at 15 ºC in a vacuum. If the diesel and fuel viscosity is known in Censtistokes or Centipoise the calculator will display the CCAI. The Density Meter uses Hydrometers to measure the density of marine diesels and fuels corrected to kg/m3 at 15oC. With this information and the viscosity of the fuel, the Density Meter can determine:
- Mass of fuel delivered
- Calorific value
- Anticipated combustion performance (CCAI)

Note: The Diesel and Fuel Density Meter must not be used for heating any liquids other than diesel or residual fuel oils. It is not suitable for use with any fuels with a low flash point temperature (e.g. gasoline).
The requirement for on-line machinery and oil condition monitoring is becoming evermore apparent as maintenance costs increase and production capacity and equipment performance is maximised.
While temperature, pressure and vibration sensors all have their part to play in a condition monitoring package, early detection of changes in oil and lubricant condition and regular, consistent monitoring of wear metal debris in rotating plant provide greater insight into the actual condition of vital machinery and equipment.
Kittiwake have developed a range of innovative and practical on-line sensors for wear metal debris and oil condition detection and monitoring.
The ANALEXrs range is designed to provide plant engineers and maintenance managers with real time, continuously monitored testing and analysis data for critical plant and equipment.
Suitable for use with slow, medium and high speed diesel engines, gas turbines, gearboxes, compressors, generators, vehicles and other oil filled plant, these sensors help to increase productivity, reduce costs and improve profitability.
